UBS- Another good news story for F1 sponsorship

UBS- Another good news story for F1 sponsorship

Sponsorship | Sport

“UBS has been searching for a global sponsorship platform that has appeal to our clients, promotes our brand globally and makes good commercial sense,” said Oswald Grübel, Group Chief Executive of Switzerland headquartered financial services giant UBS, this morning, formally announcing the company’s new global partnership with Formula 1.

The addition of UBS to a burgeoning sponsorship portfolio is the latest in a steady stream of good news stories for Formula 1 management throughout 2010. A quick glance at those over-riding criteria for UBS’s entry into Formula 1 and it becomes clear that the pinnacle of motorsport is very much the place to be for brands with international aspirations.

Phrases such as ‘global platform’, ‘client appeal’, ‘global brand promotion’, ‘commercial sense’ are intrinsically linked with Formula 1 as one of the few sporting outlets that can offer a truly international appeal with a tried and tested business model.

UBS has also been keen to point out that commercial attractiveness was a key consideration, stating that the agreement compares favourably with other forms of brand awareness and client hospitality. Based on our experience and research of different sporting arenas, we couldn’t agree more, and it is refreshing to see global brands recognising the power of F1 sponsorship.

“Our new partnership with one of the largest and most popular sporting organizations in the world will fulfil all these criteria, and it constitutes a key element of our newly launched branding activities,” continues Grübel in the official press release. “The global reach of F1 complements the many local activities we support."

These thoughts are naturally echoed by Bernie Ecclestone: “UBS is a global company where performance, teamwork and superior execution are integral to their clients’ success. These values complement those of Formula 1 and I’m delighted to welcome UBS to Formula 1.”

UBS will officially launch the partnership at the Singapore Grand Prix in late September but today’s release makes for positive headlines as Formula 1 emerges from its traditional period of summer hibernation with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps resuming the championship this weekend.
