- Social Media and London 2012
We submitted a short blog for The UK Sports Network this week with some social media predictions for 2012. Being Olympics year, and with a number of athletes on the Sine Qua Non books, including Zac Purchase and Paralympic athletes Charlotte Henshaw and Ollie Hynd, we looked at how the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be the first true social media summer Games.

Blogvent Day 24 – 24 Hours of Le Mans continues to shine
So we have made it to the final day of our special Blogvent Calendar and from the moment we opened the first virtual door to our calendar, it was obvious that the 24 Hours of Le Mans would be the perfect finale to our festive offering.
Alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the three most prestigious events on the motorsport calendar. It is also one of the most historic events and its extreme demands and technical challenges continue to attract the most renowned names in international racing.
The event is so popular that over a quarter of a million spectators flock to the circuit, the majority for the full 24 hours. The technical aspect of the event appeals also to technology sponsors who can showcase their own products and expertise in one of sport’s toughest arenas. The entry list for this year’s event saw manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Audi and Peugeot battle it out for the esteemed win.
As the BBC reported earlier in the year, Le Mans was one of the few events on the sporting calendar that appeared to buck the economic downturn, and that has a lot to do with its endearing and timeless appeal. A one-off event with an accompanying race series (Le Mans Series), the Le Mans brand has established itself as a jewel in the motorsport crown and that looks unlikely to change. Le Mans remains an event that successfully combines strategy, team-work, meticulous driving ability and technical prowess – the magical combination for any world class racing event.
The Sine Qua Non blog will return in the New Year but in the meantime we wish you a happy and peaceful 24 hours of Christmas Day.
