From its origins as 3M's Data Storage Division, Imation has been a technology leader since introducing the world’s first data storage tape for computers more than 50 years ago and now has more than 340 data storage patents in the United States and brands that include TDK, Memorex and XtremeMac.

Imation engaged Sine Qua Non to evaluate the existing sponsorship of Jordan Grand Prix. After delivering programmes to maximise the return and impact during the next season, we were then asked to identify and structure a fresh new sponsorship opportunity that would increase awareness among a young consumer audience. The subsequent sponsorship of MTV at the Movies was activated with on-pack promotions and offers, integrated packaging and collateral, a dedicated website, a first ever TV ad and major events at the Cannes Film festival and the Movie Awards in LA.

Research showed that MTV at the Movies viewers were 47% more likely to have heard of the Imation brand and that there had been a 21% increase in brand awareness among movie viewers. Sine Qua Non submitted the Imation MTV sponsorship to the Hollis Sponsorship Awards and was shortlisted in the top 4 in both the brand and international categories.
